Panorama of a palm oasis near Kit Fox Hills, Death Valley

I had found this oasis well off the road as we were driving the road up to Scotty's Castle. I wandered my way up across the flats over the erosion debris to the small oasis at the edge of some very barren hills. The palms grew so thickly around the central solitary palm that it was nest to impossible to penetrate the thick growth of palm fronds. A small stream that helped support the growth of some bushes and grasses flowed out from the center of the oasis and soon disappeared into the parched basin.

After taking a look at the view, I decided a nice clear sunset would work for how I wanted to photograph a panorama of the oasis. The weather cleared our last day there, and I arrived in time to set up and photograph the sun setting behind the palms, with the rest of the valley all lit up with a golden glow.
