We arrived at Zion National Park in the late afternoon in Feb 2001 just after a snowfall had blanketed all of the higher terrain. We took a quick drive into the park in the evening, stopped at the Visitor's Center and got as much information as I could, and then in the morning I headed off to a nice outlook over one of the main valleys.
I took a few photos right from the edge of the outlook, but then found this outcropping that afforded a nice view for a 360 of the surrounding sandstone features. The soft early light was diffused by some high clouds, which helped capture detail in both the shadows and the snowy highlights. |
