I keep searching around for wide panoramic views that look out over special areas in the Adirondacks. This 270 degree view from an open ledge near the top of Pilot Knob, encompasses as much of a view of the lake as I've seen from most any vantage point. Glens Falls is off in the distance on the left, and the southern end of the Narrows and Buck Mtn. is on the right.
I'd been up to check out the view a couple of times before, so I knew just where and how I wanted to do a photograph. I'd also decided on the conditions I wanted - then all I had to do was wait for them to happen. I remember watching how the clouds were moving about midday, then did a check with a couple of satellite photos on the web, and decided in mid afternoon it was time to head out for a hike. The result is here for everyone to enjoy. |
