360 Panoramic image of sunrise from Hurricane

The conditions were just perfect for a dawn panorama on this summer morning in 1998. The air over the mountains was fairly dry for a nice clear view of the Adirondack High Peaks, the sun was rising in slightly hazy air, and clouds were moving in overhead to add some interest and detail to the photograph. The soft yellow sunlight gave everything a nice glow, but wasn't so bright that it washed out parts of the image.

Hurricane isn't one of the High Peaks since it's just shy of the 4000 foot height needed to be placed into the loftier status. The view from the top however is as fine as most any of the summit views found in the highest peaks. The top gives the full panorama of the peaks from Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge to the Dixes, the Great Range, Marcy, Cascade and Porter, and Whiteface. To the east is the Champlain Valley, with Mount Mansfield, Camels Hump, and the spine of the Green Mountains on the eastern horizon. A clear day allows you to see a good bit of Lake Champlain which parallels the eastern edge of the Adirondack Park.
